HECRAS 2D Online Training (April 2021)
This online HEC-RAS 2D training course will consist of 5 half-day sessions, hosted virtually via Microsoft Teams or Zoom, Monday through Friday during the week of April 5th, 2021, each morning from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Participants will: learn how to use the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS software to model 1D steady and un-steady flow, and 2D unsteady flow hydraulics; get an overview of 1- and 2-dimensional flow theory, the differences between 1D modeling and applicability of 2D modeling; gain hands-on HEC-RAS experience by participating in practical computer workshops; get an overview of hydraulic principles for rivers, waterway bridges, and culverts; understand how to develop a stable and calibrated 2D flow model; and obtain valuable insights in methods for minimizing computation errors and instabilities for 2D unsteady hydraulic models.
Modules will cover: Unsteady Flow Review, Modeling Lateral Weirs and Storage Areas, Introduction to 2D Modeling in HEC-RAS, RAS Mapper, Creating 2D Areas, Viewing 2D Output, Creating a Mesh & Exploring Mesh Resolution, 2D Inline Project, and Troubleshooting.
Class Size is capped at 15 students for maximum interactivity and participation.
